Access to clean and safe water is a critical human need. The Water Tanks Project by RCAF aims to improve household water security by providing rainwater harvesting tanks to vulnerable families, schools, and community centers. By collecting and storing rainwater, these tanks help reduce the time spent fetching water, lower the risk of waterborne diseases, and support better hygiene and sanitation.

Objectives

  1. Improve Access to Clean Water – Provide reliable, safe water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.

  2. Promote Health & Hygiene – Reduce the incidence of diarrhea, cholera, and other water-related illnesses.

  3. Empower Families & Schools – Save time, especially for women and children, and allow more focus on education and income-generating activities.

  4. Support Climate Resilience – Promote sustainable water management in times of drought or unreliable rainfall.

What Each Water Tank Package Includes

  • 1 Rainwater Harvesting Tank (2,000–5,000 liters) – Durable plastic or ferro-cement tank depending on needs and location.

  • Guttering System – Installed on rooftops to direct rainwater into the tank.

  • Foundation & Plumbing – A concrete base and fittings to ensure safe water storage and easy access.

  • Water Purification Tablets (Optional) – Provided for initial months to ensure water is safe for drinking.
