Rweteera Child Aid Community Foundation (RCAF) is a non-profit, community-based organization founded in 2019 to serve orphans, vulnerable children, disadvantaged youth, and widows in poor communities of Ruteete Sub-county, Kabarole District, western Uganda. Inspired by a deep passion for caregiving and community transformation, RCAF was initiated by Byakagaba Joel, who envisioned a society where every child and family—regardless of their background—has the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and purpose.

With the support of like-minded volunteers, RCAF was born out of a shared concern for the growing poverty, spiritual breakdown, and lack of access to basic needs in the region. The foundation focuses on reducing vulnerability through sustainable family incomes, access to education, improved health, and psychosocial support.

To date, RCAF has supported over 37 vulnerable households with small-scale, income-generating projects such as poultry, beekeeping, and handcraft training. More than 20 women and youth have been equipped with practical skills in weaving, tailoring, and pottery—skills that now generate income and restore self-reliance. The organization has provided educational materials and school fees to 17 orphans, while also addressing the basic needs of the elderly through food, shelter, and social care.

RCAF also operates a women’s savings and credit initiative, helping craftswomen build financial stability through group saving schemes funded by proceeds from their products. Beyond economic empowerment, the organization offers essential social services including residential and foster care, conflict resolution, mental health support, home counseling, and supervised independent living.
